A magnitude 7.2 earthquake rocked the coast of Haiti on August 14 causing widespread devastation. It was stronger than the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that devastated the Caribbean country in 2010 that affected 3 million people. Haitian officials estimated there are thousands of people in urgent need of assistance.
In an effort to support and assist affected families with the short and long-term needs created by this unexpected tragedy, Mizner Country Club partnered with Food For The Poor to send donations to those in need. This interdenominational Christian ministry provides food, secure housing and emergency relief in primarily 17 countries throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. Food For The Poor partnered with Haiti to send urgent requests for aid to their headquarters located in Port Au Prince, capital of Haiti.
Mizner members donated essential items and unperishable foods to the Food For The Poor warehouse in Coconut Creek, FL, and sent containers directly to Haiti. We hope this will make an impact on their recovery and health, during this trying time.
