24 Aug Mizner to Host One Magical Weekend Event for Three Very Special Causes
Three local charities will converge over one very special weekend, Oct. 20 & 21, 2018 to connect for a powerful cause — fighting cancer, right here at Mizner Country Club, where neighbors unify in a community of love, nurture, and support. “Mizner Connects for a Cause” Charity Weekend promises to be a fun-filled weekend with events, entertainment and awareness all for three charities that each have a special connection to the community — Mizner residents, family, and friends.
Meet philanthropists and Mizner residents: Diane Nathan, President of The Pap Corps Mizner Country Club Chapter; Hope Friedman, Director of The Gift of Hope and Wendy Schulman, Volunteer for the Gift of Life Marrow Registry. Typically, every year each organization hosts their own special events separately, but this year, they’re uniting for one impactful weekend.
What happened next — serendipity, as the three charities decided to work together, hosting one big, beautiful weekend with a series of fun events, designed with a little something-something for everyone. Best yet, all of the proceeds raised will be divided equally among these special organizations.
The three charities cover the gamut from funding cancer research to screening for donors to helping cancer patients who are currently battling the disease.
“All three are related,” said Diane. “Pap Corps funds cancer research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (at the University of Miami). The Gift of Life raises money to buy cheek swabbing kits, so they can swab people to see if they’re a match for stem cell and bone marrow transplants and the Gift of Hope raises money for women going through breast cancer treatment who can’t afford monthly expenses like paying for their electricity or to buy food.”
With the support and assistance of The Mizner Country Club Women’s Association (MCCWA) Mizner Country Club will open to the community at large to host a series of events that not only connects its residents to these organizations but Mizner Country Club to the greater community.

“There’s something for everyone to do,” said Hope Friedman, Director of The Gift of Hope. “If you don’t play golf or tennis you can still have a nice weekend and be part of it — everyone loves food. There’s even something for the kids to get involved.”
