08 Jun Women’s Association Raises $5000 For Palm Beach Food Bank
Mizner Country Club Women’s Association wanted to help their community during this very difficult time, so they began a project to raise money for the Palm Beach Food Bank.
According to Debbie Baker, Association Vice President, the idea was hatched during a Zoom session with 11 club members. She states, “We were all discussing the work that Mizner was doing with the non-profit organizations ‘Eat Better Live Better’ and ‘WiseTribe’ to deliver meals to recipients who experienced job losses and financial stresses due to the coronavirus outbreak and we wanted to do something special for the community as well.”
The idea blossomed into raising money for the Palm Beach Food Bank which the 180-member Women’s Association wholly endorses. The question arose how could they effectively fund-raise with everyone’s social distancing? The answer was to place a Special K cereal box on the doorstep of the Club’s treasurer, Allison Canter, and notify the community of their intent. Within just one week, MCCWA had collected $5000 in donations from their membership and Club members.
“The generosity of our Mizner Country Club Members made it possible for the Mizner Country Club Women’s Association to send a $5000 check to the Palm Beach County Food Bank. Hopefully, we were able to make a difference in helping our community,” said Randi Cannata, Women’s Association President.
Larry Savvides, Mizner Country Club’s General Manager and Chief Operating Officer, said, “It is overwhelming to see the outpouring of support our membership has shown for helping those in our community who are struggling as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. It truly enforces our motto – We are Mizner.” Mizner Country Club’s recent donation of specially prepared meals for 400 Palm Beach County families partnered with Eat Better Live Better and WiseTribe.
