12 Feb Big Win For Mizner CC’s Women’s Tennis Team
Division 2B Tennis Team Triumphs in South Palm Beach County Women’s Tennis Association (SPBCWTA)
It came down to the wire. Going into the final match, tied for first in the standings, Mizner Country Club’s Division 2B Tennis Team came on strong to finish in first place for their division giving the Mizner women’s team a two-point lead and winning the South Palm Beach County Women’s Tennis Association (SPBCWTA)’s tournament as the season ended.
Commenting on their win, Vernon Gettone, Mizner Country Club’s Director of Tennis, said, “It’s my utmost pleasure to congratulate our Division 2B Team. This is great recognition for a team that worked very hard to achieve this amazing feat. With over 1,800 participants and 45 different clubs, all of the players had to endure extremely competitive matches within South Palm Beach County. Mizner’s players were fierce competitors and earned the right to be called champions. We are so proud of them for coming in first place!”
According to Larry Savvides, Mizner Country Club’s General Manager and Chief Operating Officer, “The winning didn’t stop there. Our 2B Ladies Team also won the award for sportsmanship! They truly embody what sportsmanship is all about — treating others fairly, maintaining self-control in dealing with others, and respect for both authority and opponents.
