28 Jun Empty Nester’s are Flocking to Mizner
They say birds of a feather flock together. Take one look at the membership at Mizner Country Club and you’ll know it’s true. They all share something very special, that certain je ne sais quoi.
Mizner members have a zest for life and a desire to make meaningful connections. As active participants, they’re movers, shakers and successful change makers. They are the people whose energy is permanently set into overdrive.
So, who are these empty nesters and why are they choosing Mizner?
David and Kim Melchik are living the dream — right now.
“It was always a dream of mine to live in a country club community,” said David. “I love the game of golf. When I wasn’t playing golf, I was watching it on TV. My plan was to save up and then one day, when I’m ready to retire, I’ll join a golf community. I planned. Then you realize you’re not going to live forever, what if I get a back problem?”
Always financially conservative, David knew that the country club lifestyle he fantasized about was pricey. But when he actually started looking around, he was pleasantly surprised.
“There’s such good value in Mizner,” said David. “The cost of the club was somewhat offset by a reduction in the price of the house. Here, you pay less in taxes and less in insurance. In Parkland, the same model house is $1.2 million, starting. It’s not even comparable. You’ll pay more for the house, more for the golf.”
And you won’t be playing on a brand new 18 hole, par 72 private golf course, that was entirely redesigned by Kipp Schulties.
“It turned out so much better than I could have anticipated,” he said. “I play with new people every weekend. Everyone is so welcoming. If golf is your passion, this is the place to be.”
For the Melchiks who moved to Mizner just two years ago, the timing was almost perfect.
They’ll soon enjoy the highly anticipated, brand new $22 Million Lifestyle Center with indoor and outdoor restaurants, casual poolside dining, a sports bar, and a convenient grab and go cafe. Outside a new pool area with a fire pit, an amphitheater and plenty of outdoor deck space for parties.
To meet Mizner’s very active member’s quest to stay fit, a new two-story, high-tech, state-of-the-art fitness facility will be home to dedicated spin and pilates rooms, massage therapy and an outdoor personal training deck.
“Anyone looking to buying in now will find real value here,” said David. “It will only improve when the new Lifestyle Center is up and running.”
But David does have one regret.
“If I had it to do over again, I wish we’d moved here sooner,” he said. “I wish we moved here when the kids were at a younger age, it’s such a great way to live.”
