Get in the Game

If you haven’t set foot into the Fitness Center, now’s the time!

About five months ago you rang in the new year, and like most folks, made a few promises, you know, losing a few pounds, getting healthier, getting fit. If you’ve put off those resolutions, Fitness Manager Paul Raymond is the man with the plan, to get you on track and into a program that you’ll love.

“Fitness is for everyone, that is one of the reasons I love this industry and this career path that I am in,” said Raymond.

While the new state-of-the-art Fitness Club is underway and undergoing renovations, that’s no excuse not to take advantage of all of the amazing programs that Mizner has to offer right now.

Raymond offers a bit of advice for newbies — Baby steps.

“It’s very intimidating to walk into a fitness center and absorb everything that is going on,” said Raymond. “We assess you, your goals, your injuries, your personality, and take it slow.

It’s the kind of personalized service that Raymond believes will help build a relationship between the member and trainer and hopefully develop a love of fitness to last a lifetime.

“We take our time with our clients, listen to them, and design a program around their goals and timelines,” said Raymond. “Fitness is a lifestyle choice; it’s not a sprint, it is a

marathon — A marathon for the rest of your life.”

And if dumbbells and treadmills just aren’t your thing; it’s ok, there’s so much more going on at the fitness center.

“It’s called personal training, so no workout is the same,” said Raymond. “Our trainers have taken walks with members and using a band, done exercise outside during the walks.”

There’s also a variety of classes for every level, including beginners.

You just have to start.

Soon the newbies aren’t so new anymore, and real changes start happening — that’s what Raymond loves best about his job.

“It’s that ah-ha moment from a member,” said Raymond. “Seeing that moment and watching something in them click that will change their lives for the better, forever, is worth every minute. When a member tells you that they’re seeing and feeling the difference — That’s the best!

I love the work environment. I love the camaraderie that is formed with the fitness staff. I love being a part of something larger that makes a difference. I love that everyone cares — cares about the membership and each other.”
