19 Jul Our Favorite Sips for Summertime
Summer months remind us to set aside time to relax and refresh. Sitting by the pool, catching up with friends, and spending time with family are all great ways to take advantage of the extra sunshine. One way to make it even better? An adult beverage! (For those who are of age, of course.)
These summer drinks are the perfect pairings to summertime activities:
Martini
Shaken, not stirred. Although at One Mile Bar and Grille, they’ll make it any way you’d like. This perfect pre-dinner drink is a go-to for babbles at the bar with buddies, or kicking off of lovely midsummer’s date night. And don’t forget—you can drink Bond-style for just $8 on Thursdays at the Club.
Martini Recipe:
½ oz. Dry Vermouth
3.5 oz Gin or Vodka
Lemon peel or olives to garnish
Stirred: Place gin or vodka and dry vermouth in a mixing glass or cocktail tumbler. Stir and strain. Add cubed ice and stir until the liquid is chilled. Strain the drink into chilled Martini glass.
Shaken: Place the gin or vodka, dry vermouth and cubed ice in a mixing glass or cocktail tumbler. Shake vigorously until chilled. Strain the drink into chilled Martini glass.
Garnish with lemon twist or skewered olives.
Mojito
What’s better than a glass filled with mint, lime, club soda, and of course, rum? Refreshing mojitos are a perfectly palatable poolside companion. Made for the warm breezes of the tropics, this summer sipper is ideal for Florida’s sunny afternoons.
Mojito Recipe:
6 oz light rum
10-12 mint sprigs, plus more for garnish
Fresh squeezed lime juice
2 tablespoons sugar
Club soda
Add mint leaves, lime juice and sugar to a mixing glass or cocktail shaker. Using a muddler or back of a spoon, gently bruise the mint leaves so they release their oils into the mixture. Fill a highball glass with ice and add rum. Add unstrained cocktail mixture to the rum and stir. Top off with club soda and garnish with a few extra mint springs.
Rosé Aperol Spritz
The Rosé Aperol Spritz is a dream in a glass, transporting you to a Mediterranean getaway with each drop. With a classic rosé base, Aperol for bubbles and grapefruit slices for visual appeal, this lovely libation looks as good as it tastes.
Rosé Aperol Spritz Recipe:
5 oz rosé
2.5 oz Aperol
Sparkling water
Grapefruit for garnish
Add rosé and Aperol to a mixing glass or cocktail tumbler. Stir gently to combine. Pour into an ice-filled wine glass and top with a splash of sparkling water. Garnish with sliced grapefruit. For added flavor, incorporate passionfruit, lime or other fruit juice.
